Lifecycle Environmental Benefits with a Hybrid Electric Propulsion System Using a Control Algorithm for Fishing Boats in Korea

In Korea, fishing boats account for 65,452 out of 71,174 coastal ships, and aging ships are a leading cause environmental problems economic loss. To solve this problem, the government has enacted policy to promote development distribution vessels. Electric propulsion systems hybrid suggested as alternatives. However, study whether system is environmentally friendly, measuring performance conventional diesel-powered was developed measured. A case applying battery analyzed through Matlab/Simulink simulation, effect reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7.6% verified. addition, comparing with where load-sharing optimal control introduced, we proved that reduction controller 10.7%. By results various countries different fuel production processes LCA technique, it confirmed eco-friendly from energy stage, rather than unconditionally, according national power method. Additional research needed reflect trend entire fleet create detailed category classification future research.
